i'd expect body building powders to be specifily designed for humans tho, i dont think ants need the same protiens that we do, but worth a try i guess......or maybe we can come up with an Ant Body Builder poweder...any chemists about can tell us what protiens ants need to grow?
The wurst problem you could have is that your ants die...
I think it is better to find out first what exactly is in the powders and find out if it could harm the ants.
I have placed this years l.niger queens in test tubes with their first brood into hibernation in my garage with bubble wrap, will this damage the brood?? and do i need to feed them whilst they are hibernating, they have not yet been fed? my brood seem to be a lot slower at turning into workers that your test tube colonies =(
In what stage is the brood. Iff i'm not mistaken the eggs will not survive the hibernation. The larva and cocoons will.
Not all queens are the same, it also depends on the temperature they where in during summer and how long. If you see my experience i have captured them half way summer but the temperature outside was very good until end of summer.
Oh that is a shame, the brood is a mix of eggs, larva and cocoons. Luckily i think a majority are larva at this stage. I plan on leaving them in hibernation for 10 weeks, it has been two weeks already. Still not sure if i should be placing small amounts of food in the test tubes? I can't imagine not eating for nearly half a year! Thanks for your help =)
