I've been trying to build some new nest.

Doesn't look bad, maybe a little tip, if i build nests i always make a mean tunnel where i connect all rooms with. That way you have a little highway for your ants, much easier for them to carry around with food and brood and all kind of stuff.

alright thankx for the tip, the next i do i will design it that way. how is it the best way to keep it moist?

I have no experience with keeping cork nests moist.

The first watering must take some time, usually a few days. But after that it is extremally easy, simply pour some water near, and it will soak like soil or sand. Don't add too much, it's best to keep ca. half of the nest dry, ants need also some dry place.

I use mostly cork nests and now I can say it's not necessary to cut corridors at all, because ants can make their own as they like. Of course they will use existing rooms first, so less chambers you make, earlier they will start digging, with colony growth.

Enough to keep it partially moist, and not flood the corridors. You will see it with experience.
