You can almost put everything inside the farm :) it looks really nice if you put a few things inside it only makes it harder to clean. Keep that in mind. ;)

I like that idea Steve. Very nice.
My only consern is the sand, i think they will use it to decorate the ytong in a bad way. ;)

lol.. they would have to dig under the decoration to get at it lol.. and some of it may even get damp from the ytong.. so it will be an alternative nesting site for them.. if they want.. this way i think i have everty point covered for them lol.. dry ytong, damp ytong and even sand ;) best of everyworld lol

True, if you dont mind them digging in the sand. ;) Its a very nice setup but if they decide to use the sand as a nesting area you wont have a good look at them anymore.

Well in the end i decided that it would be good for them to have the choice of either to build a soil nest, to take a dry ytong or to take a wet ytong. They have for the minute decided to build a nest inside on of the plants i had planted in there. Pics below of the setup...

Before i had said that the subs where getting into my crematogaster setup and looked like they was helping out, well now.. my crematogaster have decided it would be a good idea to share with the subs.. they have started building a nest up against the side of the glass.. pics included.. They have taken all the brood into this nest.. but however have kept lots and lots of workers in the ytong along with both queens.. ive never ever seen this before with any of my ants.. usualy when they decide to move they more brood, workers and queen.. Not this time tho.. I shall keep you posted in my Crematogaster thread. :)

Hope you enjoy the pics.. one or 2 was shaky.. :(

well its now officail.. these ants will live together quite peacefully.. I have just fed them some crickets.. and both sets of ants came out and was sharing the crickets.. and seemed to ignore the other spec of ant as if it wasnt there. Has anyone ever had this happen with any spec of ants??

Yes it is quite possible until one species reaches a specific (unknown) size, then it just clicks and they will erase the other colony. ;)

lol im not looking forward to that.. and i have no way of moving them now.. if i tried to dig them out i would disturb the others nest as they have nested like right next to each other... under the same plant. Keep your fingers crossed people.

How are all your ants Donbilbo?

OK some very interesting news, I very rarely see these ants eating anything as everything i put in the crematogaster get there and take it. So i was actually starting to worry these might die out... However last night when it was dark i took a little spy, and i saw 2 winged queens walking about :D
Now im under the impression that to create queens a colony would have to be feeling safe, be getting loads of protein and well be doing generaly pretty well... Which to my knowledge these ants have not been lol.. Im now starting to think that maybe.. possibly they have taken the crematogaster as slaves??? Does any1 else think this is possible?? I cant explain how else they would get enough food to create new queens as well as keep the colony healthy.. Ideas please people!!! :?: :?:
