Camponotus substitutus are a good choice for you i think. I keep them myself also.
They are rather easy and they grow fast (colony i mean) these are also very nice ants and big. Nice soldiers.

They come from Latin America so they need a temp. of 25-35°c (30°c would be perfect ) and a humidity from about 60%. They love insects and honey (ore sugar/water). They don't hibernate (exotic). Heat mat ore heat lamp is a must for these ants. Also y-tong nest would do perfect, don't keep it to moist just a bit, they don't like it to moist.
