Hello. Last Friday I received a queen of Camponotus cruentatus. It's arrived with a larva in the tube. Today I noticed that my queen has eaten the little larva, perhaps due to the stress of the trip. I decided to put her into hibernation until mid-January. I wanted to ask:
since now there is a temperature of about 22 ° C, what is the maximum overhang temperature tolerable by this species? Can I put it directly at 10-15 ° C without problems or should I do it gradually? If so, how?

Hi,

i started with a C.cruentatus this year too! Real beauties. I would say a 7°C Cooldown could be a bit to much. Maybe first 1 Day at 18° and then down to 10-15°.
I just turned of the Heatlight and the Roomheating. Between 12-15°C in a small box now until end of January.

I cant wait to see them after hibernation!

Hi Morphium. This morning I put the tube from 26 to 22°C. Now is at 20°C and tomorrow I'll put the queen to 18°C and on thuesday I will hybernate her to 10-15°C. I hope to not stress the queen too much. Your queen is very nice. When did you buy her? I also have a small colony of this species.

I think there should be no stress for your Queen.
I bought mine at 25th Oktober. They are in hybernation for one week now. (12-15°C)
