Hi - Thank you for your fantastic service to me in the past.
I already keep M. Rubra and am interested in also keeping some Camponotus Ligniperda.
http://www.the-piedpiper.co.uk/th3f.htm
The above link suggests that the size of colony can expand to tens or hundreds of thousands, and that there can be more than one queen eventually. I want to make sure that if the queen dies eventually, that it doesn't mean the colony dies too. With the M. Rubra they allow the mated queens back into the nest as additional queens.
How long would you guess that the ants are in length?
What do you feed them?
Would I need to use heat or are they OK indoors in the British climate?
Also - can I pay extra to have a colonie? I am not too worried about cost.
My M. Rubras adore spiders for some reason, and little flies.
Many thanks for any help in advance.
All the best
Tomo
What do you feed them?
I give insects and honey
Would I need to use heat or are they OK indoors in the British climate?
you do not need, but it's good to have a heat lamp over the formicarium.
Than you will see in the summer more ants outside.
Also - can I pay extra to have a colonie?
what you mean with extra pay?
I am not too worried about cost.
My M. Rubras adore spiders for some reason, and little flies.
thats fine :)
Greetings Martin :D
I see there is a price for a queen, but not for a queen and colonie together, I do not mind paying more for a colonie with her.
Is this possible?
All the best
Adam
Dear Tomo,
at this moment we have only queens from Camponotus ligniperda , but normally we sell colonies (queen with workers) or of some species, we sell only queens too.
please wait some weeks, I think, then we will get new colonies.
Greetings Martin :D
Thank you Martin, I shall wait.
the population of c.ligniperda is less than 10 000 workers and has only one queen
Can you put a colony of these in a Starter Kit ?
Yes, it's possible to keep Camponotus ligniperda into this Starter Set.
Would it be okay for a year or so or would i need to get a bigger tank quite soon?
