highered: What is the cost of running a heater? (4. Jul 2008 10:05)

I have the second smallest heat mat from Antstore and have been running it during the day every day in the UK. I recently got a huge electricity bill. Does anyone know approx how much it costs to run a small heat mat for about 12 hours per day, 7 days a week? Thank you.

Very little, think about it, if your heat mat is for example 8w, thats 6x less than the average 60w light bulb :)

 Thanks, it must just be something else. I mean if a heat mat cost a huge amount of money to run it would be discussed on these message boards, which it isn't.

Most likly thing to be using lots of electric are tumble drier, washing machine & water heater, or your Oven if its quite old, check the energy ratings, should be A or B to be best :)

No not really. I use (not in summer) about 8 heat mats and a few heat lamps. My bills aren't that high.
