Sphecomyrmex: keeping of spider (31. Mai 2008 20:37)

Hi all,
I would want to venture me in the breeding of spiders (arboreal small spiders), but I don't have about the subject any knowledge. There is someone that has experience in the breeding of spiders?

Thanks

I have no experience with breeding spiders. One of the forums i visit there is a nice section of breeding with spiders but it is in dutch.

Look at 'Araneae' and 'Theraphosidae'. Maybe with a translation site you understand a bit. ;)

That really depends on what speices you have but you have to get 1 female let her get settled in then add 1 male (if you do this too soon she wil kill him) but do not put him too close to her and then wait depending on speice he may die after mating or he may try to leave.

Keep the female in a dark and warm place, she should lay her eggs in 10-25 days then she'll wrap them up in more web.It could then take upto 5months before these hatch but that depends on tempature.
You must keep them warm over winter although she may die or leave them.
