hey wondering (probly only person on the planet that thinks this way) does any one know how i could abtain a termite queen and king? i have seen termites in my yard plente of times i do wish to have a colony of my own like i do with ants also would any of you know what species i should start out with?

I dont know much about termites or where to get them and the species but I know they are alot harder than ants and lots of people have tried on here but the termites died

I've read about a bit on the net about keeping termites. You could wait for them to fly and catch mated queens or You could find and infested log and put the whole thing in a tank. Termite colonys tend to have multipul secondary reproductives so if you find a large colony but there is no queen, then a secondary rpeoductive becomes queen after a while.
I seems most people try many times at keeping them before managing to succesfuly maintain a colony.

well from what i have learned of termites and i also found a person with my same question on a diferent web site and he was told to go get about 100 workers or so because termites have an equal ammount of male and females in there colony and workers can molt severl times to become a queen or king but both a king and queen are required but about them dieing from what i know i should only have to keep the humidity relly high to keep them from dehydriting
