i fault i better get the ball rollin, i voted between the ages of 5-10 years.to be persific i was 7 years of age. because when i lived in london in my back garden there were 3 different species of ant: myrmica rubra, lasuis niger and lasuis flavus i kept niger first as i was quite attracted them when i was younger. for me it was amazing i just coud'nt take my eyes off them (i cant really now iver lol) anyway i remeber keeping them in an ol ice cream tub with soil: there first insect i gave them was a centerpide they really enjoyed it so did i wacthing these facsinating insects. my mum 'n' dad kept telling me to put them down where i found them(of course being so intrested in them i did'nt and snuck them to my bedroom to keep. mum found them a few days after and she threw them in the bin.the time i asked did u see them she said to me she chucked em i was crying my eyes out. then i just kept collecting loads more ants they kept chucking em out i kept collecting.i remeber one day i put a niger queen in a plant pot about a year later there was a big colony of them this really annoyed em. and shortley afterwards we moved to yarmouth (probaly because the ant inthestation lol)
luckily for me i can keep them now........yes
:D

I wanted to keep ants in my 4 years, but I didn´t have no literature or publications.... But on my 13 birthday, a moth ago my 13, I had found a queen of Lasius niger and it started.... And in June of this year I had keeped my first colony from C. vagus queen.... I knew basic information about ants from my 7 :)

I was captivated in Camponotus ligniperda as is was a little child. Dont know what age
Any time when i was on a airing trough the forest with my grandparents i stand captivated for many hours in front of a hill from Camponotus ligniperda and watch all the ants scurry on the ground ^^

my first colony as at 7, but i had no clue what i was doing lol

had a few more colonys when i was about 12, Lasius Niger and a Formica colony that i found a queen of, these went ok, surivived a few years, but i had to get rid of them as my farms where very small

when i was 22 I had 3 camp. colonies and my first cataglyphis colony, cant remeber which of each i had ( i have a very bad memory lol)

now i have all sorts, having experimented allot with diffrent setups :-) i'm still a n00bie tho, lots to learn still, but thats always good, coz if i run out of new things to learn I wont bother with them anymore i'm sure
