By fluon you mean PTFE ? I use PTFE in the farm where i keep my Pheidole pallidula and this is escape proof (i use a lid to) the PTFE is about 4 centimeters wide. Make sure the corners of you farm are silicone free otherwise they will escape this way, the PTFE will not work on the silicone.

Their appears to be camponotus right down the freeway from me.

At least I know where to go now. I went on a 3 hour hike in the near by mountains yesterday, and didn't see one single ant.

Thanks for all the help

Just go outside in the morning and look on the ground. The farther out from the city you can get, the better.

I found 4 Pogonomyrmex occidentalis queens just this wednesday while I was outside doing things at my work.

Thanks,

It just rained big time here, so I'm about to go out into the desert and see what I can find.

Hi, my name Gerry been lurking in the forum for about a month and finally signed up . I'm in San Jose California and have three Tetramorium caespitum colonys right now. Use to have a Black harvester ants colony but they all died. Any one around here from the bayarea?

nepenthes_ak: (18. Jul 2007 05:46)

In the US it is Tetramorium E complex cause their used to be a know 2 species but genetic research shows that their are 7 species of Tetramorium.

Hey Redant,

I'm up in San Carlos. Where do you go antting around here? I was up off 280 near edgewood road and didnt see a thing.

I think in the hills above Stanford might be a good spot.

redant408: (19. Jul 2007 02:57)

Hey Arcais

I go antting in the santa theresa hills, I saw some big head ants not sure if they are Pheidole californica. There also Black harvester there too.
