I captured a Crematogastor queen about a week ago and placed her in a tube with cotton wool and water. Yesterday I gave her some pupae from the mother colony, and a newborn worker. My question is since it is late in the season will she wait till spring or is it not too late?
Could be she lays some eggs before hibernation, that way the eggs will develop in larva and can survive the hibernation. The first workers will come in spring.
I checked in on her, and i noticed that the worker was caring a little white speck that turned out to be a egg.
Question answered. ;)
Good luck with them.
