highered: Manica rubida (14. Aug 2008 14:16)

Does anyone know if Manica rubida and myrmica rubra are suitable for dry nests such as cork or all plastic nests please?

No ants are suitable for a dry nest.

These are fine as long as you have a decent water source in the nest for humidity. Also Manica rubida aren't the most amazing climbers and older workers might get trapped by vertical smooth surfaces in a plastic nests and vertical plastic tubes.

Myrmica rubra like it wet ! Manica rubida you can keep a bit less wet.

Like Tail said, no ants like completely dry nests. Some like it less moist than other but completely dry is difficult.
