my cousin lives out in America and wants a lasius niger queen, can i send him one or are there customs laws? If so what can i do to get them to him.

It is illegal to send queens to USA. Sorry, there's not much you can do about it.

Forgive the expression but they've already been stung once with the introduction of the Red Fire Ant, so you can understand why they are cautious.
so what would happen if i were to send one in a small padded envelope. Surely they dont scan all letters? it's lasius niger so it wouldnt do any environmental damage even if it was released
Why cant they collect there own queen? the US has many many species of ant :) and they are flying constantly for the next 2months

As it goes, Lasius niger are extremly agressive, we have no way to know what will happen if they adapted to other countries, and the liklyhood is they will very easily.
Its illegal, and asking people how to get around the law on this forum is very disrespectful. Posts like these will get you banned on other forums :wink:
There is also the issue of import/export of species in Europe, there are people, with the power to make it happen, that want this trade banned, due to peoples negligence with various invasive and destructive species, and threads like this just give them more amunition to throw at the cause.

i wish it wasnt ilegal. be cool to have fire ants lol. but anyway dont risk it, its ilegal.
