questions:
1) well as some of you may know i have a captured l.niger queen from the swarm and about 20 workers which had to be seperated because im an idiot.
just went to digup the queen (she buried herself in the pot of coco fiber i rescued her in) and found a load of squashed white things on the end of the spoon...[insert swear word here]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
will she lay mor or have i killed my chances completely?!!!?
2a)what is a y-tong?
from what i could find it seems it is a readymade nest carved into a breeze block with a chisel and a piece of plastic on the front.i have heared they are dificult to make and not recommended but i have time (5 weeks...LOL) and want to make one...
2b) can the ants dig new tunnels through the block???
2c)is there a proper sheet to tell me what to do? eg. construction/maintanance sheet...?
thanks for putting up with me...
theres a caresheet for lasius niger in this section, run a search using the menu above and all your question will be answered, along with a step by step guide to making a ytong nest :D
1) Don't worry, fertile unstressed queens always lay more eggs.
You really don't have to even search for the care sheet. It is a Sticky here in the beginners section. ;) Go check that out, if you than still have questions (search first) feel free to ask them.
