Flavus: A good set-up? (30. Jun 2008 12:20)

I don't know if is this a good set-up for my Lasius Niger Colony. My colony has about 40 workers. Those pictures aren't good because i took them by my mobile.

It's look fine for them, but have u any pictur of your colony now? And what have u them in, and where have u got them from?.
- but it's look fine, but I will not put white sand in it, I'll put yellow sand in, but that what I'll do (:

Hello, I got them in tube and they are bought from Antstore. I'll post pictures later.

Hello Flavus and welcome.

The setup looks fine by me. Don't forget to keep it moist. ;)

One question: How long can take the movement of my colony?

KiamCameron: (30. Jun 2008 19:00)

No one really knows for sure especially with lasius niger they are hard to make them move....

JimmyVe: (30. Jun 2008 21:08)

In deed, they don't like to move. It could take weeks or even months. Maybe sooner. Very hard to tell.

One more question little bit off topic: Where can i find formica fusca?

Messorus: (1. Jul 2008 12:59)

Hello, new keeper from Slovakia!
Formica fusca you can find in Železná studienka or on Koliba... There´s many huge colonies with many many queens,- like Myrmica....

I've got a sand/loam problem: When I moistened it, the dye had messed the glass so I can't see my ants (when they are in the hole).
