Sphecomyrmex: Lasius niger's alate queens have deposed (14. Jun 2008 10:54)

Hi all,
I've found three Lasius niger's alate queens, and i've put them wirh some male of the same specie in a test-tube. Now, males are died, and queens have deposed some eggs. But they are still alate. Can i to leave the queens together in the same test-tube? When will they detach wings?

I don't think they will have mated in the tube. The eggs the queen have deposed are probably not fertilized.
It is best to separate the queens, each in there own tube, see if they lose there wings and if they will raise workers. But i doubt it.
