shadow5235: Messor barbarus question (3. Jun 2008 23:56)

i am planning to get a queen in the coming weeks. i have done a lot of research on them but i am still not sure about some things. i was hoping to keep them in a ytong nest like this http://www.antstore.net/gallery/upload/b720c10244a3ee2abf42c25b37801b65. but i have read that 1 half need to be damp for the brood and the other side dry for seed storage but i cant figure out how i would do this :?: . any help would be greatly appreciated

make a little resevior(like a mini pool) in the ytong or make a ''leg'' wich is in water.

Hello Shadow and welcome.

There is already plenty of information of this species on the forum. Read a bit and you will find out very much about this ants. ;)

About the y-tong, great idea but remember they can dig trough it.
