Joshposh: my ants arent moving (27. Apr 2008 16:23)

i have a niger colony with a queen and 15 workers, however since i have bought them they have just stayed in their testube. they have blocked up the entrance with sand. i leave food for them but they arent leaving the testube at all. should i be worried? if so what shall i do?

We get this question alot you should use the search function but..

A small colony will only forage at night as they think it is a lot safer and they only send out 10-20% of the total population so when they do come out only 1-4 or so will come out...

Yep, check out the care sheet and you can also use the search engine. As we all know (and it is been said a few times here) Lasius niger are SLOW movers. ;)
