jcrusader: feeding ants insects (21. Apr 2008 14:42)

i have a small/medium lasius niger conley, ive been feeding them meal worms and i slice them in half so the ants can get to them but when i read ant care sheets it says nothing about that so what i am asking is what im doing really necessary

You should cut it in halves for Lasuis niger... it's better to only feed big colonies of bigger species whole meal worms because they can manage to get in themselves but a rather small Lasius niger colony should be helped by cutting the meal worm open.

Yes it is better to cut them in pieces. The shell is to hard for them. (for most species)
