Hi All
Well the good news is that my 1st colony survived the winter, there has been a few casulities but the queen survived and Miszt if you read this your Queen has laid about 25 eggs so the new year is getting off to a real bang. I moved they colony to a bigger tank (i'll post pics this week) and they seem to prefer humus to sand.
The queen however is still in the tube that Miszt supplied and she will not move, I am just worried that now that the water has gone somthing in there may go mouldy and kill her off, I have suffered from mould issues before and it worries me.
I am not concerned about water in general as I have it in the environment. I just don't want to risk her.
I believe the issue is that only 8 of the 14 workers made it through the winter and I wonder if she is staying put until she has more kids (my sister only moved when she had more kids :D )
I don't want to force her or tip her out and I don't want to risk any eggs until she has a bigger family. Thoughts? or am I worrying about nothing?
Regards as Always
Paul
If she is still in a tube and the tube is dry you could add another (new) tube to the setup you have now. (ore connect them it a out world) so they could move to the new moist tube. ;)
Good luck.
Good to hear Paul :)
dont worry about where she lives, the colony will move themselves if they need to, as long as their is sumwhere moist for them to move to, and they have fresh water, they will be fine :)
Lasius niger dont like moving, but dont worry, as I said :)
