if you want use colorful sand and loam mix from antstore for nest, do you need to cook it?

JimmyVe: (24. Feb 2008 18:28)

If you buy it from antstore i'm pretty much sure it is safe for direct use.

i think the same, but when farm is 2months without water there are white things lke very little balls or something.maybe its a some kind of a salt?

Salt ? That would be strange i think :). How comes your farm was dry for 2 months ? I have one nest with sand/loam and i never had white balls in it. Maybe it is just dry sand.

I had that wierd white balls thing too and that was in earth, first it was wet and then it dried and during that process those white things came. But now as far as i know i didnt have that problem for a long time now.

Might be some kind of fungus or so, dunno if its dangerous

I think that also if is it from Antstore*, you also must cook it. It is just kill probably some bacteries there, but I think no bacils and mites in product from Antstore;)
