Nice nest ;) (i think it's one off mine ;) )

Advice, make sure the rooms are a good size for your ants. Don't make them to small ore to big (better to big than to small) in my opinion it is best to make one big tunnel (the main tunnel) where the ants can move easily. Make the first room, where the ants come in, a little bigger, most species like to take there food to the nest, so a bit bigger room would be perfect. Depending on the species, you should have a moist and a dry area in the nest, also if heating is needed you should have a warm and a colder place (where they can go if it get to hot).

That's all i could think off this moment, if you have more questions just ask. ;)

ok silly question again.. do u actually now put sand loam in them?? or just add ants and cover?? Secondly.. where can i get one lol

miszt: (19. Nov 2007 18:49)

you can make them, run a search for ytong and you will find a good tutorial on it, cant remeber the exact thread tho

dont need sand, just add ur ants :) as long as its kept at the right humidity they do very well

a great way to make a formicarium is to cut the tunnels/chambers in the sides of a ytong block, then put it into a big tank, i've got a few pics of a new setup i'v nearly finished i'll post up as an example
