fernando_regio: RIP! Short life for a queen. (20. Sep 2007 14:21)

I putt this here only for the ones who are thinking about Messor Barbarus to see how hard it his to be kept, for the ones who dont have much time for the colony has me, my messor barbarus, unfortunatly is dead, i saw the test tube where she was alive only two weeks ago, and there she was, dead stiff, with no water inside, unfortunatly two they didnt move to the nest, there are 5 ants left, i will wait a bit for them, im a bit sad. I will try next spring for pheidole palidula. My Lasius Niger are well and very much alive, they are really very easy to be kept, and very, and very live ants, at least there i must say success.

They are in deed not so easy as everyone thinks. It not that you need much experience but the first time you keep a colony of ants you are most of the time looking at the ants and disturbing them. Messor barbarus like to be left alone. ;) So it is better if you keep them after you had a few other species. ;)

I'm not saying this is happened to you fernando_regio, just a comment to all of the users.
