Within one day 40 workers have appeared dead, curled up into balls just laying there, on the same day I have witnessed ALOT of activity, I mean like all the colony out at once.
The night before they where fed on Two Crane Flies (AKA daddy long legs) and a spider.
No mould has formed, fresh water, honey and apple supplied every day.
HELP!
Regards

Have they got a good supply of water? dehydration can wipe a colony out within 24-48hrs
A few of mine died when I got mine but that was down to packaging and stress. When did you receive these?
i had the same problem about 2 months after i recived my colony. i started off with a big colony of about 150 ants. then one day loads started dieing and over a week i lost about 60 ants. some die every week still but its alot better, i never found out what it was that caused it.
What kind of farm are they in, is the farm moist ? how much is the temperature in the farm ? These are also things that could causes dead to ants.
But sometimes it just happens and you can't do anything about it, hope it already better with your colony.
Hi I recieved my formacarium but the aggregate clay balls didn't arrive with them is there any substitute for he clay balls
you can get clay balls from your local garden shop :-) often called Clay Aggregate balls...make sure they dont have any pesticides in tho!
Ore you can use small rocks (very small) but the clay ones are better.
yeah, 'Gravel' works ok, but it doesnt hold water as well, but u shuld at least use Gravel, as it will stop the soil becoming water logged
