iamdan: umm... help.. (8. Jun 2007 10:36)

Hi, i am a complete beginner and i need some help. I purchased a starter set with the Lasius niger ants. everything was in german so i assumed you just fill up the larger/thinner glass aquariums with the sand that i had. i just looked on this site and found out that i should have put those brown/orange stones at the bottom nd then filled it with sand. do i HAVE to put the stones at the bottom? if so, i will have to take all the sand out..

i would be very grateful for a quick response..

thank you

Hi iamdan, and welcome.

You don't have to put them there but it is easier if they are there. ;) Better to keep the nest moist.

Hi Dan ;)

If u put the brown/orange stones, the granulate, into the farm i would suggest to place a tube or a straw in it. Through this u can moisten the sand better cause the granulate "saves" the water and gives it to the to the sand when it becomes drier...

Just put some wool at the ends of the tube/straw so that ants can get into it!

Greetings
Simon
