Kiam: One Question about Myrmica rubra (6. Jun 2007 12:22)

I have a colony off these and if i put a M yrmica rubra from different colonies will they fight? I have never seen them fight each other before when ive had hundreds from different colonies. They might not fight right because if I put a queen in with them they accept her do they do it to the workers or not ?

I think the ants will fight, but im not to shure because Myrmica rubra can have more than one queen.

Ok since no one knows or dont want to reply I put a myrmica rubra from different colony in there but it went underground where they all are so I dont know whats happening :'(

Hi Kiam, give me a chance.

If you put workers form different colonies together they will fight if they have no way out. It is better not to do that.

Oh Ok I wasnt sure about myrmica rubra because they have multiple queens

They could have more queens in one colony that is true, but that doesn't mean that you can put workers from a different colony together.
