Hello!!
I am planning on buying a colony of Myrmica rubra with a Queen and placing them in my Antworks gel ant farm. Is this recommended as it is quite a small environment. Also, will these Ants built tunnels? I had a few Lasius Niger and they all died without tunnelling at all. Is it a good idea to use queen ants in antworks in general? If not, can i order Ants through Antstore without a queen? I want a decent amount of Ants (At least 30)
Any help would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!!
Don't use Antworks, its a piece of sh*t. Eventually the ants will allways die. Buy a real ant farm, if you want to enjoy your ants for more than just a few weeks.

Does anyone have experiences about connecting gel nest to ordinary ant farm?
Hi tombud and welcome to the forum.
First of all, Nuem is wright Antworks is sh*t, i sad it before and I'm going to say it again, i don't understand why they shell it !
If you really are interested to keep ants, make are buy a real ant farm to keep them in. Workers without a queen have no meaning in live so they are not going to live long and they are not going to do much.
Read a bit on the forum and than if you are still interested buy a young colony Lasius niger ore some other easy species.

Not a problem i'm glad i can help.
if i where you i would not connect a gel nest to a 'normal' farm. just keep you normal farm. that is much better than a gel nest.

indeed it is, as i first found out about the antworks gel, total rubbish, your ants will just die! now im really in my ant farms, just been building one out of airated concreate! seems to be great! will start a thread and pics soon! (once i get some ants to go in it!!!)
