Ive ordered a heat mat to warm my ants in the y-tong nest, do I put it on top or on the bottom? also any other tips for efficiency i would be very grateful :)
I think ,it is better ,when is it on the bottom - you heating Y-tong ,when you get it on the top you heating glass and this is no good for ants.
It is all what I can help you.

Ok thanks, but when I humidify the nest, the water sinks to the bottom of it, will this not cause a problem?
Oh ,You write true ,It can sinks to the bottom. So I don´t know. I never had item like that ,but I have some ideas. You can heta only part of nest and on second part you can getting water. In heat part ants will have cocoons and in damp part ants will have larvae and eggs with queen.

In deed it is best only to give heat to a part of you nest, so if it gets to warm the ants can move. also with humidity, the part that is moist is good for them, but if it gets to moist they should be able to move to a dry part.
Yes ,this is my words wroote simple
Thanks Skippy

As far as I know this things... heat mats are used on glass formicariums. Meaning: you can not apply it directly to ytong, but you applay it on glass. Either below or from the side... so you get best effect. I've also seen some photos of such use on internet.. but never directly to ytong.
ah right, thank you everyone :]
