sithmaster676: odd behaviour (6. Mai 2007 15:24)

i have a new colony of Formica fusca and one of the workers is showing signs of peculiar behavior she doesn't seem to go in the test tube since they blocked it up and justs sits around every now and again twitching her leg or moving a little way is there any reason for this, is she close to dieing maybe?
also none of the others seem to come out of the nest
thanks

dont worry, sometimes my workers tend to not return to the nest for a day, but for the twitching part, im not to sure.

after watching her today i think she is ok she normally only does it when someone enters the room she just sits still and occasionally moving her leg:)

No problem, but sooner or later you are going to have dead ants. ;)

yeah i know today in my lasius niger colony i had my first dead ant :( i think she drowned in the honey i had out for them it ashame i couldn't save her but i still have at least 11 workers and at least 25 larva so hopefully they will take her place:)
but with my formica fusca colony i have only 6 workers so if i dies then it means more to the colony.
i have a question do f.fusca brood develop any faster or slower than l.niger?

In my experience they are a little slower than Lasius niger .
