Hello to all ant lovers. :)

Could you please help me to start keeping Camponotus barbaricus. I have few questions.

1) Nest temperature?
2) Nest humidity % ?
3) Can they live in ytong nest?
4) Hibernation: how long and low temperature?

Hi Werty,

I'm not well now of Camponotus babaricus because i don't have them myself, but i try to help you a little bit.

1) They are from south Europe, so i guess about 25-35 for summer.
2) My Pheidole pallidula are also from south Europe and i keep them at 40-60%
3) Normally you can keep most of the species in an Y-tong nest. keep it a little bit wet.
4) Hibernation is from late October till beginning of March. keep them at a temperature between 5-10°c.

Like i sad, i don't keep them myself, this is based on my Pheidole pallidula, but they are from the south of Europe so i guess it pretty much the same.
