Hi can you get live mealworms naturally in the uk and if not can uk by them in the uk

I wont to find them in the uk on my own. I CANT buy them my mum wont let me
Mealworms are originally from the Mediterranean area although they can be found here in the UK. Its not going to be easy finding wild ones though. You will have to convince your mum that you will keep them in an escape proof tub and that they don't smell and are clean. Good luck. :)

Well I suppose they are regarded as pests of grain and flour, so I suppose a mill would be the place to start. What does your mother think about keeping ants or buying ants from a store ?
With ants she dont mind I wait untill the nuptule flight

You have more hope of finding a cockroach which is proably a 1000 times more nutritious than a meal worm. Mealworms should be given as a treat rather than the main food source. Or consider flies. Blue bottles or green bottles which you can catch anywhere, just be sure they are not contaminated with insecticides, same for any live food caught in the wild. Cooked chicken and tetramin fish flakes will be accepted by ants or at least some, but as said before its trial and error and not really a substitute for the real thing. Tell your mum that the meal worms you keep in captivity lead a safer life then they would in the wild.
