I am starting out with a simple farm (no queen). Have had them before and the starting holes where typically right the edge of the farm. I would like to have them start right in the middle and then fan out from there.

I have read that spicy things or strong odors like cinnamon, pepper, or vinegar will overpower there sense of smell so they can’t locate trials of others. Tried that and it didn’t seem to help. Kind of think that would work better for larger areas when trying to disrupt a long line of ants.

Could anyone give me some advice on any tricks I could try?
