Can anyone tell me a succesful way of keeping a colony of aphids for my ants to farm? Ive heard of using a cactus as a suculant for them, has anyone tried this?

Yes I think that might work. I can always see aphids on my dad's cactus. Like lots of aphids.... May dad always kill them.

Try culturing Pea aphids which you can obtain in the UK http://www.insectsonline.co.uk/-Pea_Aphid_Culture_Acyrthosiphon_Pisum/p833480_6757446.aspx They are bred for live foods, mainly dart frogs but could be used with ants perhaps.
