frackyboom: Experienced info on feeding insects (25. Mai 2012 16:24)

Hi forum, I was wondering if someone with some expertise could advise on insect feeding. I'm new to ants and have just set up my farm basin and my colony (1xqueen 3xworkers), I tried a moth that i froze for an hour but they showed no interest and i currently have a beatle that ive poured boiling water over waiting to be munched, ive scanned the forum but i cant find much. Any ideas on favourites and how to catch them etc...? Im in the UK and have Camponous l igniperd us . Kind regards, Fred

I don't know what ants you have, but a small colony of just four ants don't need much food,
if they don't have much larvae, they don't need meny insects too.

If the Insects are too big, they need much time to freeze,
you could freeze them for some houers, to make them slow, then kill them with water (about 100°C)
give a little thing to the ants and give the rest into the freeze machine.
Frozen you can put them into parts with a knive or so, to make smaller portions.

How much they need, you can only test,
that changes depending to the number of ants and breed!
