I primarily studied entomology and ants in college because of my interest in them. I don't know very much about keeping them though. I'll be attaining my secondary teaching license in a while and I want to start rearing the colony now before I get a classroom of my own. I would want a species (that's available in the store) that lasts the longest and would grow into the thousands at least.
Please help me choose.
thank you
Hello, :sign_welcome:
(sorry for my not perfect Englisch)
I`m sorry, but i think that you can`t order a colony from antstore, because they cant send ants to you . -customs-
But when you know a amerikan ant+shop, then you can order there.
a good ant is messor.
beybey
If I remember correctly there is a law in America that doen´t allow to ship any organisms that are able to reproduce.
So shipping ordinary workers is allowed but shipping colonies with queens isn´t.
So basicly the choice you have is depending on where you live.
What age will the pupils be in your class?
I could imagine that a Pogonomyrmex colony would be interesting but since they are quite venomous they might not be accepted in the school.
You probably should contact the American forum: http://antfarm.yuku.com/
