UneXisted: What underground should I use for my Atta colony? (30. Apr 2010 13:02)

I have an Atta sexdens colony.

I also have bought a basin for them. Now i am considering the underground.
Should it be:

Sand
Gypsum
Hydrogranule

What do you guys think?

Give them a Plastic box filled with seramis. With the seramis they can perfectly control the humdity. And the small plastic box is very good for them to control the humdity by themself. when the fungus is to big , u can use another , bigger box.

Some people just don´t give them ground, but mostly they get seramis and some sand.
They don´t really need ground to have a nice nest.

But seramis is a good way to keep it moist. And this way the ants can control the humdity by removing seramis out of the nestchamber
