bryguy97: Prenolepis imparis question (21. Feb 2010 23:20)

Hi,

I was just wondering how long it takes P renolepis imparis queens to lay eggs after they have mated. If you have any experience, please tell me how long it takes. Thanks!

I don't have experience with these ants. I would go for 1-4 weeks. If everyting works out right.

Thanks! I am planning to keep these ants this summer. I love it how they have their own storage caste!

Prenolepis imparis usually fly during February or March, you should start looking now on a warm day.

I live in Massachusetts though. I think that they might fly in April around here. Buy I'll keep my eyes peeled!

I missed out on them due to the rather dismal numbers flying this year. I also live in Mass.

They were in pretty good numbers where I live. First they did what I described above, but on Easter they had a huge flight! It was great! ( I have four queens now, all with eggs!)
