abz uk ants: get Lasius flavus to move (17. Feb 2010 13:34)

I just got a L asius flavus colony this morning with over 60 workers they are in a testube in a area with the tube leading to the y-tong nest how do I get them to move into it?

They will choose the point of time by theirselves. If you try to prompt them to do this, it just stresses your colony. If there is e.g. mold in the testube you can make the new nest more attractive for the ants by not darken the testube but the y-tong. They will move to the place which affords the best requirements for them.

Instinct is right. You cant force them out of the tube. Just lay the tube exit next to your Ytong entrance and maybe then they'll move

yeah they will not move if they are forced. just leave them  but this spec are nown to be stubborn even in large number and don't come out much for food as they eat various things within the soil. the mainly come up for mateing flights
