As with all Ponerinae you know, that they need be full of food all of the time... If not, it´s very possible that they will eat their brood, larvaes, eggs, etc...
Diacamma are easy by my opinion but very interesting. I just don´t know how about gamergates, my one spec. didn´t have gemmae on their thorax and unfertile workers had occuli(eyes) of the same type as fertile, so I don´t know what to tell you about... My Diacamma was eating everything, especially of insect fruit too,- banana, apple, I also gave them the pollen... With insects and fruit they also got honewatter, which they accepted in all types- honey:water; sugar:honey"water; sugar:honey:tee; .....
Diacamma is quite easy and interesting, they can also sting, which is somethimes a little itchy and somethimes you just don´t feel it :)
Odontoponera are lovely hunters of size like Diacamma, maybe few mm more... You have just to feed and feed them, or just my transerva were so extremely hungry??? :D :D
From Pachycondyla I´ve been keeping P. astuta, what is the same ant as Antstore checked them as ,,Odontoponera spec.", but it´s classed like Pachycondyla cf. astuta or somethimes also like Odontoponera astuta, but it´s the same with this spec as with Odontoponera... Just feeding by insects, honeywatter just somethimes...
Odontomachus are very nice ants! I´ve been keeping O. kuriowae, easy lovely spec. from Japan. My colony grew up from 12 workers to 25 from something about 9 weeks, ants were quite shy and hunting just in the night, but interesting... They accepted just insects, like flyies, cricets, moths, cockroaches.... With these insect was feeded al species which I´m writing about in here... All insect was killed or half living, if they had strong chitin cuticula, they must to be teared, or ants wont get throw of it...
I keeped these Ponerinae species in just a little highier temps, something around 26 °C and they were glad I think :) But the humidity was from 60 to 80%. It´s good to make area in which can ants choose the nest conditions and things like this, humidity and other...
One little advice- feed your ants just by home keept insect and food. Last year, in the spring, I got something like flu to my ant colonies from outdoor flyies(but it also comed with new Odontopoera colony, where the queen had that strange complaint and than other ants got it too) and I´ve lost the best colonies :( :( As I wrote it was a bit from Odontoponera, but also by flyies, which was poisioned, as I received than

I think i will go for Pachycondyla. Someone said that this species has a 'higher level' of intelligence compared to other species.
Does anyone know if they hunt on vision?
