I have got a Couple of Questions.
1: Can i use aqaurium Gravel for moisture? (A half inch layer of gravel with Soil on top) A pipe will be added to keep water but i was just wondering.
2: If i cant use Gravel, Where can i buy Some clay Granules In The Uk? ( i Would get them from ant store but because of the weather it would be hard)
Thanks for your time guys. AndyB
i use any old gravel as long as its been washed an cooked shouldnt be a problem.. obviously finer stuff is better.. nothing too big like.. but yeh it works for me mate ;)
I usualy put a layer of sand of top of the gravel tho.. but its uptoyou :D
Cheers Buddy. I wasnt sure Until now Because i hate putting ants in danger and i dont want their tunnles to colapse. I use antstore soil so its high quality. I was thinking of putting a tube down the corner of the Basin that ends up at the very bottom so that I can fill it up every so often with water, Also with a cotton bud at the top so that ants dont fall down. Would you recommend this idea?
i would ;)
Yeah lol
Seems like a good setup, feel free to post some pictures of it. ;)
Yeah im Making it today and should have some pictures up. Iv been doing tests on what works best and i found a fine Gravel/Stone material that holds water nicely like steve said. Also the water pipe travles to the very bottom and makes an even level of water all around the base making the entire soil Slightly damp. Seems to be working ok right now so i will show you guys soon
