My ants aren't digging or tunneling at all... They are just sat on a twig next to a piece of cabbage, sitting on eachother and touching each other all weird and stuff.

why? lol

Hello and welcome.

Can you give us some more information ? Where do you keep them in ? How long do you have them ? Is it a colony or just some workers ? ...

to be honest not all ants are going to tunnel straight away, my lasius didn't dig for a long time. just remember that ant keeping requires time. good luck

your question lacks all the details we would need to help you.
1. ant species
2. description of your setup.

It could be that the substrate isn't right, eg too wet or too dry. It needs to be moist, but not too moist, it is very easy to over water.
