Trip33: Carpenter Ants. (7. Apr 2009 23:10)

I was wondering how well ytong worked for carpenter ants. since tehy need a damp/moist nesting area.

I keep my Camponotus ligniperda in y-tong and they are doing fine. simply keep the y-tong warm and damp  .

Excuse me, ligniperda in a damp nest? They are wood ants and are often kept in cork nests, they should be kept very very dry.

Ive got my ligiperda in ytong.. with just a part moist.. and they do not nest in the moist part at all.. So i have to say.. mostly dry is def better for them.. in fact they have nested in the furthest part away from the moist area.. which now only gets moistened maybe once a month.
