yellowant: Escaping Ants! (21. Mär 2009 20:58)

My colony of Formica fusca live in a fish tank. The lid of the fish tank has lots of holes in it, which the ants keep escaping out of, even though I put Vaseline around the edge. :( Can someone please give me some advice on how to keep my ants in.

buy some acrylic and replace the lid

yep, PTFE you can find it in the store area. works for me. only had 2 escapes over 5 months

Yep use PTFE or some Oil to prevent the ants from getting up to the lid. Aditionally you should buy a new lid or build one yourself, because when the colony gets bigger they may be able to pass the PTFE/oil if it is not that new anymore...
