my Lasius niger colony i thought was hibernating, havent been fed for over 3 months, and havent hibernated this year will it do any long term damage or any atall for the queen? (i only realized this when a guy who had his room over 10c+ becuase my room is quite warm and i took off the black paper and they were very active and only have about 6 workers now from 14 :S
EDIT, we have another colony living in the house (not ours from outside got in) and they have been up all winter
Like there is said before (1000 times).
Ants that normally hibernate in nature needs hibernation in captivity to !
It harms your queen if you don't do that.
but will it do any long term effects for just one?
It will shorten the live of you queen.
kk ty i also have another question sorry!
for next winter would it be safe for them to be put in the garage
or do you think it could possibly get too cold?
If the temperature don't get below 0°c they will do just fine.
