i have a ligniperda colony too(9 workers).i give them honeywater, fish flakes, meal worm, water and a spider last night but never saw them eating.they dragged the spider and taed the flakes to block the testube end.i hope they will eat it.
maybe you can put a motion sensor(wired to camera) to catch movements near food.then you will know what they like.

Do they take live food, or was the spider dead?

SteveUK28: (11. Mär 2008 19:26)

Im sure they would take live food when the colony gets bigger.. but as mine only has 3 ants i dont think so.. I did put a live woodlive in there actually.. but it drown in a dish of honey lol

If the colony is that small it is better if you give them dead food, you could also cut it in half. They will find it. Normally these species like all kind of insects.

Thanks for the tip, Jimmy.
