i have not seen them since last year cause they are in a basin they are under the ground in the dark.they are being warmed up slow ,if i dont see any activity in the next 2 week i may dig down and see if they are alive,i know where they are ,about 2.5 cm down in a corner under a piece of wood,a bad idea ??/???
lol i know what you mean lol,but how do i know they are alive and how long should i wait
If you dig down to them the disturbance could stress them and this maybe be bad for them if they are asleep or just waking up. Some times ants take quite a while to wake up, even when there is a good heat source. If they are dead, then you have nothing to lose by being patient anyway to see if they do emerge. I also suggest that you place some sort of food, like sugar water, in the baisin as they could be foraging whilst your back is turned  .
i had a simular situation with my nylanderi Duc.. Howeva i did just leave them and put a bit of honey down just outside the nest.. sure enough within a few hours a worker was out drinking the honey.. im sure they are there an just fine.. prob only come out at night or when ur not looking :)
well, they are alive,i put some honey and a small piece of bacon in for them, when i checked the bacon had gone :D but i also spotted that a worker had got stuck in the honey and died :(
woke up this morning, after my tiresome day in London !
found the queen had laid one egg woop
checked at 9pm she has another 4 eggs now woop "! :D
a worker had got stuck in the honey and died
Yes that could happen that is why i use such small dishes for the honey, that way the chance of them getting stuck is much lower.
@ kashmir: nice for you man. ;)
