Hey , well there are still more eggs coming evey day I saw the queen laying another egg this evening.... :D
I now count around 11 eggs not bad going for a colony with 5 workers
Matt
After hibernation ? Depends on the size of your colony. If the colony is small they will not be very active right away, but if you have a large colony they will be active when they awake.
Ohh .. they have been out of hibernation long around 2 weeks and they only have 5 workers. Though they are not wasting anytime , the queen is laying alot of eggs.

well i woke mine up about 2 days ago and i got immediatly the queen walking around in her mini ytong (i got pics, put them on later tho) and i had a max of 3 workers exploring the new area but now its constantly 1 or 2 workers outside. But the queen just sits there now, occasionaly moving around a little but still no eggs...
I wonder if i let them out to early? I also put a small piece of fresh chicken for the temporary protein boost the queen might need to make eggs.
help or advise would be cool :D
Hey , well I certainly dont think you waking them up too early is anything to do with it. I think you are expecting abit too much of them give them awhile to settle back into normal life again.
By the way how big is your colony ?
Matt
Ya i think ur right im just to hyped from them lol since they didnt have a great start when they came from antstore. My colony is 12 girls strong (includes queen)
Hehe .. , My colony has only 5 workers .. but I am expecting them to grow fast as the queen is a good egg layer. I have 2 larvae and 10-15 eggs.
Matt
my colony is 5 or 6 strong plus the queen,no sign of them feeding yet :(
That is normal, if the colony is that small they most of the time come out at night to feed, because the feel much saver at night.
Well mine dont seem to mind .. they just try and attack me as soon as I open up the tube and they only have 5 workers. :D
Wow they have a large batch of eggs now .... it keeps getting bigger I would say around 15 now
