it wouldn't be the biggest set up for a big colony compared to a basin or a ytong but it should do for a while. good luck
thanks for all these positive comments guys your all a real help
p.s. i am writing this message with the new nintendo dsi just thoutgh id say lol
Hi,
The easiest and cheapest and excellent solution is to buy plastic test tubes with the plug that you can pierce
or mixed loam-sand that you can use to plug partially the entrance of the test tube ( the hole must be big enough to permit the entrance of the queen ), fluon that you can put on the sides of an aquarium to prevent ants from getting out ,and a red transparent plastic sheet to put around the tube to give darkness to the ants in the tube. It is better to buy a small ant bassin because you can connect it later to a bigger one or a nest ( that's difficult with a aquarium ),when the water is gone or the test tube become to small for the growing colony you just add an other test tube . You can use the stupid blue gel as water and sugar to keep alive domestic crickets. There is also a booklet about describing the basic of quipping ants for beginners you can buy it all from Antstore for 20 or 30 euro sending include or just buy test tubes , fluon , red foil, and use your own aquarium or plastic box and it will cost you less than ten euro.
You fill the tube half with mineral water ,push inside a plug of tight cotton wool and that's it.
I absolutely agree, this will not work so please don't take that route. I am damn serious.
