I once tried ant island and it didn't work out. Some ants always ended up in the water and some made it back to the "island" and some to the outside world. Unfortunately, water only will not keep your ants in the formicarium.

yeah i can see that. i might put some thing oil or something on the plastic side to stop the ants even getting over the top, then should be ok.

i just like the thought of them being open topped.

yeah im very impressed on how well there doing. the moth has been dragged to the nest hole.

after the feast, as you can see only the wings of the moth are left, so my little colony is starting off very strong!

so interesting to watch!
